Devil Hath Come...

I'm happy to report that I managed to get everything done with Devil Hath Come before I leave for vacation. It's been edited and proofed thoroughly and going for it's read through to find any little mistakes.
I've revamped the process to cut down on missing errors in the books before they become released, so I'm hoping that this makes the entire thing less difficult and time consuming. We've added another proofreader to the process to put another set of eyes on the book. Team Morgan Kelley is slowly growing!
Let's hope it works!

I got some great emails the last two days. Thank you all for sending them to me!

Here's a few;

Morgan,
I've been reading your books. I have just finished reading Fire Burns Hot. I really enjoy the books wasn't sure about the threesome between Ethan, Elizabeth and Callen. I love reading about them. Also Julian and Tori. I hope the woman M.E. doesn't come back and ruin things.
Coleen

Oh, don't you worry, Coleen. I took care of Desdemona.... Julian and Tori will have their own series next year. I promise...

 Ms. Kelley,
When are the next books coming out? I'm addicted! I love Greyson. I may want to marry his brother myself!
Jessica

Jessica, Devil Hath Come (Book 7) will be released on October 1st.
I was going to release it on October 15th, but I want a full month before Halloween.
Next will be Christmas is Killing (book 3) in the Croft & Croft series. It's going to be released on or around November 1st.
Once that one is out, I'll begin writing Consumed by Wrath (book 8) of the FBI/Romance series and Love is Bleeding (book 4) of the Croft & Croft series. I may also toss in a Julian and Tori book too. It depends on my schedule and the holidays.

Last year, I worked through Christmas. In fact, I was just finishing True Love Lost on Christmas Eve, right before I was walking out the door to see family.
I won't be doing that this year. I'm taking the week before Christmas and after off to just be a mom.

Morgan,
What upsets you most when you get a negative review? I saw some pretty mean ones out there.
I think people are taking it way too serious.
Betty

The threesome slamming doesn't really bother me. I'm okay with people not wanting to read books that make them uncomfortable. I think what upsets me about that is when they tell me I 'ruined Elizabeth and Ethan' for them. No, they ruined it for themselves by taking it too serious. This is fiction, and the characters don't really exist. So, how can I ruin their lives? I give everyone fair warning that the FBI/Romance series is going to have a threesome in it. Each book is tagged appropriately, so if people are clueless and don't read the book description, well, that's on them. Not me.
You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink.
My job is to make the reader have fun, think and live in a fantasy for a short period of time. If I bend the rules every once and a while when it comes to FBI procedures, well, I can. It's fiction. FBI West doesn't really exist.
I write fiction, not true crime...

I guess what really bothers me is the editing comments, because no matter how many times a team goes through it, there's going to be mistakes. I've read Nora Roberts books with errors in it. (Specifically JD ROBB books.) and she goes through a MAJOR publisher.
I would love to pay someone thousands of dollars to edit my books to perfection, but then I have to charge 14.99 a book. Who is that going to hurt?
The Reader.
There are always going to be critics, and if the missing comma or the misused word bothers you, then close the book and find a new author. (Yes, that sounds bitchy, but like Lyzee, I call it how I see it.) We're all trying our best, and I put out 10 books since last September, at 500 pages and 180,000 words each. That's 5000 pages and 1.8 million words. Most authors put out 3 max a year and they are 300 page books.
I love to make everyone happy, but that's not always possible.
For now, we're working on cleaning up the books that are out and making sure that the new ones are as close to perfect as we can get them.

Okay, back to work. I have a million things to do before hiatus begins! It's almost beach time!

YAY!

Much Love, Mayhem and Murder,

Morgan.

Fire Burns Hot...

Hi all!

Just popping in to let you know that Fire Burns Hot (book 5) is getting ready to re-release with a new cover and edit sometime this weekend.
If you previously have the cover with the fire and hearts, please contact Amazon customer service NEXT weekend to get a manual push through with the new story.
The plot is the same, but the editing is cleaned up and ready to go!
(for paperbacks, the new edition won't be ready until this week some time)

I apologize for the copious amount of errors in that first edition. All the 'he' and 'she's have been fixed, along with the missing words and spelling issues. I can assure you that it won't happen again, and from here on out, the books will be released with new editing practices!

Also, the other books are now going through the editing process line by line to fix all the mistakes.

Make sure you get your new edition with a great new cover and cleaner content!!!

Much Love, Mayhem and Murder,

Morgan.

Vegas...

I hope you're all enjoying Vegas is Dying! I had some awesome feedback via email! I can't wait for you all to finish the book and read the follow up book Christmas is Killing!
I thought I would post a few of your comments or questions here;

Morgan,
I just finished Celestia is Falling and I am in LOVE! Greyson Croft is HOT! I love how you made
him so very strong and crazy about Emma.  I already bought Vegas is Dying and I stayed up late last night reading. I liked your FBI series, but I love the Croft & Croft series. Thank you for bringing Curtis back! He's funny!
Keep writing! I love your humor and your books!
Susan

Susan, I love Curtis too! He makes me chuckle. I love that he's Greyson's surrogate little brother. I will tell you that Dante is going to be in book 4, so Greyson will have two 'brother's' to look out for...

Morgan,
I just finished Vegas is Dying and I don't think I can wait until Christmas time. Can you please give us a few hints what you have coming? I Love that you are trying to have someone make Greyson Croft dirty. (Although, we know that won't ever happen!) Him and Emma are perfect together. Don't change a thing!
Barbara

Barbara, here's a hint: Nothing is going to be what it appears to be. Greyson and Emma will have an unlikely ally and a more sinister enemy that is willing to spill blood...

Morgan,
I read your FBI Series, and while I enjoyed it, I have to say that I love your Croft & Croft series even more! It's refreshing! There is something so sensual about Greyson Croft and how possessive he is of his 'woman'. I love it! I was torn at the end when Emma called Mr. Mason by his first name. I have a feeling he's going to be a problem in the next book!
Can you release it early? I think tomorrow is a perfect date!
Please keep doing what you do!
Amy

Amy, I wrote this series to alleviate some of the 'freakout' from the other series. Not everyone likes the threesome sex. It was a perfect storm to create that series and it WILL NOT be happening ever again. While I love Elizabeth, Ethan and Callen, they have their story and i'm not going to replicate it. It will cheapen it if I have threesome after threesome with every set of characters. I did it once and that's great. Now, I plan on giving the other readers what they wanted. A straight romance with interesting characters that begin flawed and have to work through it to find resolution.
HINT: Randall Mason will have a deep impact in the next two books...

Morgan,
I love you. Let me just say that off the top. Want to be my best friend? If you were, then you could tell me what's happening in the next book. I know, I'm just using you to find out where you're taking the book after Vegas is Dying, but I reaaaaaallllllllllyyyyyyyy need to know! I don't think I can wait until Christmas.
Can you tell us anything? Oh, and if you need anyone to brainstorm with, I will volunteer my services!
Toni

Toni, You're better off not being my best friend. I don't play well with others! HAHAHAHA I will tell you what's happening in the next book. It's Christmas, someone is trying to break Greyson and we all know there is ONLY one way to do that. Now, think about it....  I can promise by the end of the book, you will be writing me another email dying to know what the hell I was thinking! (no worries people, I don't mean as in sex. I put a twist in the plot regarding the dirty dealings of Vegas)
As for brainstorming, I've decided that I'm no longer telling anyone where I'm taking the books. I plan on going with my gut and just doing it! I think that makes it more impactful.

As usual, I love your emails. They make me laugh! I can't tell you too much about the next book, because that would ruin it for you. I will tell you that it will be out in November. I am aiming for Nov, 1st. It has already had a first read through and had two people beta read it, just to make sure there aren't any holes in it. That being said, it's going forward and will be out before you know it.
I will tell you this, it's the catalyst for the game changer. I LOVE a twist that no one sees coming, so prepare yourself for the first chapter and the last one to catch you off guard.

In Christmas is Killing, Emma and Greyson are closer to finding out who is the big 'corruptor' in Vegas. They want Greyson to be well aware who is 'King' of the strip. They're ready to play hardball and Emma and Grey have no choice but to play along. There will be allies made and enemies watching their every move. It's going to set up the follow up book for 2014, Love is Bleeding (book 4) HINT: The title may or may not be a clue as to what's ahead...

Just sayin'

Okay, I have to get back to work. Devil Hath Come is just about there and I want to wrap it up and head to the beach. I may be posting pictures of Morgan's month-long adventure.

As always, keep emailing and don't forget to leave a review on Amazon and Good Reads!

Much Love, Mayhem and Murder,

Morgan.

Something that I don't always do...

Rarely, do I promote other writers on my blog, only because I don't want to backlash if someone disagrees with their work, but today I'm breaking that rule.

My author friend, KC Cavanaugh, is going to be giving away Eternal Beginnings on Amazon on 8/9 for free. It's a cute little pre-story for the books she has coming out. I've read it and enjoyed it, so for anyone that comes here and reads my blog that enjoys YA and paranormal, check it out.
We all love something that's free!

You can find it here on Amazon.
or pop on over to her blog and check out her other works. You can also find her on Facebook.

Back to work I go!

Much love, mayhem and murder,

Morgan.

And the countdown begins...

Hi all!
Just dropping in to update you on what's going on in my little world.

I'm wrapping up the final read through for Devil Hath Come (book 7). I'm about 270 pages in and that's the halfway point. It's going to be edited and then shipped off to proofing.

I'm also going to start the corrections on Christmas is Killing (book 3).

I'm in the home stretch for the year. I leave for Myrtle beach in three weeks, I'll be down there for about a month, so if anyone has any fun things that I NEED to see, drop me a comment or email.

When I return, I'll be starting up on the next two books that will be coming out in the beginning of the year. The next one in the FBI/Romance series is going to be entitled Consumed by Wrath (book 8). I'm aiming for around Valentines day or the end of Feb.
This book is going to deal with the fall out of Devil Hath Come. We're going to see how Elizabeth's life changes after the last book.
(I can't tell you more. Sorry. I don't want to start an uprising before the next book is even out!) I know there have been quite a few emails wondering if I'm going to kill Callen or Ethan off, and that's addressed in Devil Hath Come.
So, the Valentines day book will be dealing with the fall out of what has happened in their lives.

After that, I will be writing the next Croft & Croft book. Love is Bleeding (book 4). I'm going to mess with the lives of all the people in this one. It's going to either show us that love is stronger than anything in the world, or ultimately our downfall. AGAIN, for those of you that were freaked out by the threesome, I promise nothing that drastic in this series. I plan on pushing it a little, but no fears, Emma and Greyson are each other's one true love and that's not going to be played around with in this series. There will never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever be a threesome in their future.
Soul mates and one and only one true love.

Cross my heart....

Also on the agenda for next year is the release of the Julian and Tori Littlemoon spin off series.
I also have another series in the works. It may only be a three book trilogy, but i'll know more by the summer.

Again, this ends my year, so thank you for a great run.

Here's my promise for next year.
I swear I will make you think.
I vow to make you feel.
and I will try to keep you entertained!

Much Love, Mayhem and Murder,

Morgan.

Long live the Queen and King of Vegas...

Vegas is Dying (book 2) in the Croft & Croft Adventure series has released.

It will be live in a few hours!  If you haven't read the first book in the series, here's the link.

Celestia is Falling (book 1)

I'll post the link for book two in the morning when I see it on Amazon!

Have a great night!

Morgan.

New favorite email of all time!!!!!

I know I post quite a few questions here, but I had to show you all this one. I LOVE when I get interaction with the readers. It's fun to see how you all view the characters in the books.
I often wonder if anyone sees them the way I did when I created them, of if it's just my vision of them.
Well, I've gotten good emails, bad ones, and one from all over the world. This week I received one from Johannesburg, South Africa. I love that my books have traveled the world.

NOW... If they'd just take me with them!

But NEVER have I received one that made me laugh this hard! I absolutely loved it. As you can imagine, every time I get an email, I get that sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. Will it be good? Or will I be getting slammed? Getting feedback is like everyone else's job in life. Its akin to your boss walking in to you and telling you how you've done.
Great Job!
Ehhhh didn't like the characters hooking up.
You're immoral and you're peddling incest. (YES, believe it or not, that was comments from two individuals that hated the Callen and Elizabeth union)
Anyway, I'm accustomed to being slammed pretty hard for books 4-6 of the series. After a while, you just let it go. (Unless there's name calling... That doesn't go over well) But when I logged into my Goodreads account I found this:

subject:Blackhawk FBI series Craziness lol
message:Hello Ms. Kelley-

I have started reading your series here the past few days and I like many others really got into it until the Callen/ Adare romance. I was so upset how this character (DR. Adare)was treated and just kept yelling and cussing at my Kindle and trying to figure out why you as a writer thought it was warranted to write a story like that. I mean I know it is fiction and all but just for shits and giggles what made you go there like you did? I can see the threesome thing working to a point. I just want to know why you felt the need to totally destroy a character like that? lol I think the only next best thing would be for Ethan to fall for someone else and leave or possibly open the circle to another female. AS crazy as it sounds and you are probably tongue lashing me right now; it just seems that Elizabeth needs to get her just karma for the way she basically lured Callen away from having his own great love like her and Ethan. I really feel Callen needs to have his own family that he created on his own. Also when is the Dr. Adare gonna come back into it? lol I can't wait for that!!!!! I am loving the series but just felt really compelled to write you. I just can't get to sleep tonight thinking about this. It is just so far out in left field and unbelievable how this can coexist in the FBI world....lol I know I know it's fiction but it's just too hard to grasp for me and I am sure for many others when you are reading about FBI cases granted it's just a story it's just hard....lol

Keep up the great work and if it has to be so unbelievable please keep bringing on the chaos!!!!! Elizabeth needs to be brought down a few pegs!!!! lol ... please

I love how full of fire she is! What many people don't realize is that my job is to make you think and feel. I obviously did just that with this person, and I'm glad. I could easily write the same old book over and over again, and call it fun, but is it? Is it worth your time if I don't make you question it or think about it?

Yes, some books are meant to be easy reads, but mine aren't. I want you to think, analyze and dwell  on it. I want you to get mad, feel love and weep along with them. Will you always love my characters? Hell no! But will you think about it?
YES! That's why I'm here. I don't do this for the money. If I did, I'd write the same old diluted crap over and over again, charge you more money and call it a day. I am trying to make you think and wonder 'what if' and that's my goal.
With the FBI series, it's the threesome.
With Croft and Croft, it's how dominant and bossy Greyson is and how much can Emma take before even she snaps.

Which brings me to one more thing. Tammy just told me yesterday that my Christmas book may offend some people. Specifically Christians. Here's the deal. It wasn't my intent. One of the suspects in the book is a minister who loves God very much. He's going to have a powerful reaction, as are the other main characters. I'm not making a political or religious statement.
In fact, I was raised in a very strict Christian home, my family goes to church every Sunday etc. Am I Christian?
No.
Do I have a history of it in my personal life.
Yes.
So, if you find Emma and Greyson being a little snotty or anti-religion, please don't think that it's me. Normally, I wouldn't even bring this up, but since being called immoral and incestuous because of the threesome, I figured I'd address it now...

Here's me being PC. Someone write it down, it's not going to happen again for a LONG time!

Okay, I'm going off to fine tune Devil Hath Come (book 7) There's lots of work and currently Tammy isn't feeling well and having surgery, so, I shall be busy!

Much Love, Mayhem and Murder,
Morgan

Taaaaaa Daaaaaa!

After pulling a late night, I'm happy to say that Vegas Is Dying is off to be approved and uploaded.
What that means is that it should be available on Amazon within the next twelve hours or by tomorrow morning!

I can't believe I got it out on deadline. It seemed like I had been hit with every roadblock imaginable! Honestly, I've never been more stressed in my life!

I'm making sure that doesn't happen with Devil Hath Come (Book 7)

I start working on that tomorrow morning. It's going to be edited and read through before I leave for hiatus, and I have 19 days to get it proof worthy. The release date for that book is slotted for October 15th, and I'm going to make that deadline whether it kills me or not.
I can't put a Halloween book out after the holiday! So alas, I shall be working while I'm in Myrtle. I was hoping to take four weeks off, but it's just not going to be feasible. I have too much to handle. By January first I need to have two more books written and ready to go into editing, and that's going to start in October.
Busy.
Busy.
Busy.

Thank you all for your emails and questions. I'm sorry that I haven't had time to post them, but I will get them up as soon as I can! I also have a funny email from someone on Goodreads that I'll be posting here! Kara messaged me and it nearly made me pee my pants, so I have to post it on my blog!

I hope you all have a good day and as soon as Amazon has the links to Vegas is Dying up, I'll post them below in an update!

Much Love, Mayhem and Murder,
Morgan.

Vegas is Dying release

Hi all!

Vegas is Dying (book 2) is on track for release either next weekend or the following week. I still have a few corrections to make in it before it gets one more approval read through.
Depending on my schedule, it should be okayed by the publisher and on it's merry way shortly!
YAY!
I really hope you love it!

Here's the cover:

Here's the book description:

Book two in the Croft & Croft Romance Adventure series:

Vegas is 'Sin City'.
It's a place to risk it all and find your fortune.
It's now the home of Detective Emma Croft and her FBI Director husband Greyson Croft. They spun the wheel of fortune and decided to make it their home.
Emma's dealt with death before, but she's now run into a killer with a twisted sense of justice.
Someone's taking out showgirls, mutilating them and leaving vague clues behind. It all points to the biggest show producer in the city and a shameful secret he may carry.
But why? What does it have to do with a man that started here when Vegas was glamour and gangsters?
Behind it all, there’s something sinister brewing that’s threatening their new careers and lives. Is it connected? Or have they already made powerfully enemies, ready to purge Vegas of law and order?
The deaths keep coming as the FBI and LVPD team up to find the truth.
Can Emma and Greyson Croft build their lives when a killer is trying to make sure that VEGAS IS DYING?
Or are they the prey next on the list?

I'll update you all when it's released!

Back to work!

Much Love, Mayhem and Murder,

Morgan

Tuesday, July 23, 2013

Hello all!

Been locked in my office and chained to my desk.
I've been putting in the long days to get the books taken care of before I head out on hiatus.

Good News: Vegas is Dying arrives tomorrow for my final approval. If it looks good, it'll be out on August 1st.
Yay.

Bad News: there is none ! Sorry, I was just messing with you!  I will say that all the books are getting updated and redone, and that means new covers and details inside. So, once you see the new covers on Amazon, contact them to get the updated version. They will push through an update for you free of charge if you let them know you need the updated book.
(Keep in mind, it takes up to 5 days for the covers to sometimes update, so give it a week!)

I figured I would post the new covers.

The Killing Times (Book One) has been redone and here is it's cover. Keep in mind I also added some details to this book in the process. There's been lines, dialog and information added to make the book longer. I believe it was 389 pages and now it's more like 411.

Here is the new one for Sacred Burial Grounds ( Book Two) . It won't be re-released for a little while yet. Sometime the end of summer to be exact. It should be done in September.

Here is True Love Lost (Book Three)
I picked this cover to remind everyone of the moment when the killer was in the cellar placing the jars of body parts on the shelves. I opted to leave the grossness out and leave that to your imagination!

I also have Fire Burns Hot (Book Five) being reworked as we speak. It will be redone and released within the next couple of weeks. Around the middle of August before I leave. Here is the cover. It should remind you of the one scene behind the strip club, just minus the burning dancer....

Deep Dark Mire (Book Four) is also slotted for a new cover and editing. It should be done by the end of August or the middle of September. The cover isn't quite done yet, so I'll keep that one and Darkness of Truth (Book Six) a secret for now.
I'll give you something to look forward to later in the year.

Now for the next news. Devil Hath Come (Book Seven) has just been finished. All the details are added and next week I'm starting the first read through. It will be heading over to Tammy when I head out around the 20th of August.

I really hope you all love that book. (Well, all the people that don't want me dead for destroying Elizabeth and Ethan's lives! LOL) It's funny, it's sweet and it's very emotional. I have to admit I wept.
We're going to start learning about Dr. Christopher Leonard and Cyra Austin. They're about to begin their relationship. There will be bumps and potholes in that road, and a few surprises lurking around the corner too. I hope you fall in love with them as much as I have!

As for the Croft & Croft Series- Christmas is Killing (Book Three) is already out for proofing and will be done early. It's going to be released around the beginning of November, just in time for the Christmas holiday. I LOVE IT.

If my FBI/Romance series freaked you out (The threesome issue...) Then fear not! Croft and Croft is a straight romance. It has the same crime and mystery aspects as the FBI one, but none of the threesome and it's got more of a gangster and old school Vegas twist! If you've ever wondered what someone from 1950's Vegas would be like now in this day and age, Emma and Greyson Croft will be the ones for you.

Well... That's all folks! This writing year is coming to an end. I do have some peeps that I want to thank. First off, Tammy for putting up with my bossiness and other Type A Elizabeth-esque issues. She's worked very hard this year to get through all these books. Imagine reading 1.5 million words in one year. (or 9 of my books) then picture doing it 2 or 3 times. The woman is a trooper.
So props to her!
She also lets me bounce ideas off her. (Like should I make them a threesome?? Is this too gross?) She also talks me down off the bad reviews. (IE; You're books are Immoral. You ruined this series with Callen, and Don't quit your day job...) okay no one's said that one yet, and I'd like to point out this IS MY DAY JOB....

Eternal Connections has been helping me out too. All the amazing covers have been done by them. I love each and every one and am super appreciative. Thank you so much for reading the books and helping me find just the right creation.

Thank you to Black Cauldron Publishing for doing the re-edits on the books for me and believing in an unknown writer that wanted to do something no one else had done before- blending crime with a threesome twist. I appreciate you helping me get to Amazon's top 100 authors.

AND last but not least... All the readers! I love you all and am glad I could spend this year entertaining you. I promise next year will be just as awesome (I run September to September- I haven't been drinking) I have plans ahead for everyone. There's some death on the horizon for some of my characters (I'll answer the big question of if I killed Callen or Ethan off in Devil Hath Come or if there's more necks on the chopping block *wink wink*)
There's some bribery and people going to lose their jobs...
People are leaving the series
There's more sex.
More Love.
and more fun!

Thank you! Thank You! Thank YOU!!!!!!!

Much Love, Mayhem and Murder,

Morgan.

New cover for The Killing Times .

Hi all!

The third edition of The Killing Times is about to hit tomorrow sometime, and I thought I would give you all a preview of the new cover.
It's being taken another route, just because there are issues out there with people not knowing they have the newest edition book. Since the original and second edition are both blue and have the blackbirds, we have individuals not aware that there is an updated version and they are leaving reviews based on the original book.
So, we're going off the beaten path.
Kinda....

Here it is.

I haven't seen the paperback cover yet, but it won't be exactly the same. When I saw this, it reminded me of the end scene in the barn. I needed it to be very different so people could differentiate.
Again, as of tomorrow, if your kindle has a different cover for book one, if you contact amazon (assuming you purchased book 1) they will push through the newly updated version.

I will tell you all this, it's longer than the last edition, because I did add a few things here and there.
Just a little heads up.

Hope you all have a really great day!

Back to work!

Much love, Mayhem and murder,
Morgan.

Morning all! Updates and the normal BS.

It's been a chaotic week here!

Vegas is Dying and Christmas is Killing are done. I've passed them off to be proofed, and I can now settle in to work on Devil Hath Come.

I'll be tied up with that the next few weeks.
I need to get Ethan, Elizabeth and Callen cleaned up before editing. I still have some details to add and then off she goes.
I'll be answering the question that I keep getting in emails. "Is she killing Callen or Ethan?"

In fact, I received an email today, and since it's started a firestorm on Amazon, I'll address it.

Morgan,
I just saw on amazon that your books contain incest. Is that true?
Lori

Lori, I am appalled that that reader even stated that, especially since she stopped reading at book 3 and didn't get to a single threesome. I knew when I wrote this series, I would get some flak, but I didn't think anyone would call it incest. I clearly do not have any contact during sex between Callen and Ethan. They don't engage in intercourse unless Elizabeth is there. I think that the woman that is all stirred up needs a dictionary and a review of what the word actually means.

In order for it to be incest,  the brothers would have to have contact in a sexual nature and I don't go there. It's taboo, and too far over the line for me to cross. They are simply two men that love Elizabeth with all their hearts and happen to be half brothers.

The woman never even read the threesome scenes, so how she can call them inscestuous is beyond me. I think she saw threesome and got her panties in a bunch. Which is fine, since my books aren't for everyone, but they ARE NOT INCEST. She also claims that I stole her money and tricked her.
Again, I tag the threesome books as containing them, I left a letter in the book description for The Killing Times that stated it wasn't going to be cookie cutter and can someone have more than one true love.
She stated she became suspicious. Well, yeah. THAT was my plan. I wanted the reader to see it coming in book 2 and ultimately 3. It's not my fault that she stopped at book three in a panic, and also that she bought the books without doing the research. You don't buy a car without checking it out, or shop for a doctor. All she needed to do was read the book descriptions. I know when I buy a series, I buy one  book at a time.
Now, she claims I wasted her time, well, now she's wasting mine. I've had to reply to her ridiculous claims on amazon and now give it time here.

On a good note, I had fallen off amazon's top 100, and now I'm back. I'm sure there are people out there that see the train wreck review and now have to see what's going on with the books.
People are curious by nature.
So, Reviewer that called my books 'inscestuous threesomes'
Thank you, You actually helped spread Elizabeth, Ethan and Callen through the world.

People are going to be offended by my books, and I stand on the premise that my job is to make you think and feel. It's not always going to be to my benefit. She said she liked the books until that part, well then she indeed received her money's worth- after all, she read them. (and I had a few returns, so she most likely got her money back)

Back to work!
I'm now four hours behind since I had to deal with insanity.

Much love, Mayhem and Murder,

Morgan.

Another day...

Hi all.

Just have a few moments to spare today.
It's been a crazy hectic week for me. I'm in a crunch to get all my work done before vacation next month, and I feel like I need five or six more hours in a day.
Vegas is Dying (book 2) is off for it's final read-through this week.
Christmas is Killing (book 3) is heading in for its first proofing.
Then there's Devil Hath Come (book 7)- I've yet to add the details and get it cleaned up for the first full read through. I have about one month worth of work to put into it, and only 5 weeks until I head south...
It's going to be close.
I also had an interview with our local paper this week, some family issues to handle and just about everything else that could pop up.

But, I think it's all under control.
Maybe.

This was a tumultuous week in reviews. As Elizabeth would say, I've been handed my ass on any given day. Critiquing my style of writing to a few incredibly rude people that have made personal attacks and name calling.
Yikes! Who knew that people could be so rude.. Oh, wait. I did know that....

Anyway, despite being called a horrible writer that puts no effort into her books (Yes, Horsemom, you get the spotlight on my blog for that one... and Barbara that called my books immoral due to a threesome... I shall brush it off and go back to work. For every person that's rude, there are twenty that are awesome. I get some fabulous emails and love hearing from everyone.
So thank you, for your support.

I'm still ranked on Amazon's top 100 authors, I believe for 4 weeks now, so thank you for that too!

Everyone have a great week!

Much Love, Mayhem and Murder,

Morgan.

Clean up and re-edit.

Hi all!

Just popping in to tell you all that all of the FBI/Romance series is going back in for an edit and reproofing. There were some conversion issues, and grammatical issues that needed to be taken care of before I leave for hiatus.

Vegas is Dying (Book 2) is on schedule for a release at the end of July. So far we look to be on track, but as we get closer to the date, I'll let you know.

Christmas is Killing (Book 3) is heading off to Tammy next week to get it's first read through. It won't be released until the day after Thanksgiving, so hang in there.

Devil Hath Come (Book 7) is going to be detailed in 2 weeks, and should be ready for proofing by August 20th. It's slotted for an October 1st release.

Thank you all for contacting me this week and asking all your great questions! I will try and get back to each email as quickly as possible! Also the feedback is welcome and helps me make the books more enjoyable for everyone.

I did have some great questions that I'm going to address here.

Morgan,
When you get a bad review, how do you deal with it?
Charleen

I try to remember that everyone isn't always going to like my books. If it's related to something that is grammatical, I never get mad. Much like many things in life, I'm a work in progress and there is always room to learn. I don't have the luxury of a giant publishing house behind me, so the small team that does my editing and proofing works very hard.
People make mistakes, and it's a part of life.
When I get an email that tells me that there is grammatical issues, I work very hard to fix them or have someone on the team do it. I strive to put out every book perfectly, but things happen. Sometimes it's out of my control, like with kindle formatting. It can come across all messed up, or certain words don't translate correctly. I just fix it and move on.
NOW- when it comes to criticism on a direction I took the characters or story, that I don't take well. Since it's my story to tell, I really have final say. Will everyone like Ethan, Callen and Elizabeth having a sexual relationship? No. Does that make me wish I never went there? No. I love my characters and want them to come across how I saw them in my head. When they get trashed, it wounds, but I keep moving forward.
It is what it is...

Morgan,
Do you have a career outside writing?
Betty

Other than being a wife and mother, no. I work full time at home as a writer. This is my profession. There are days I'm glad that I'm home all day, and others not so much...

Thank you all for your emails and correspondence. I appreciate each and every one of you!

Much Love, Mayhem and Murder,
Morgan.

PS. I was just interviewed today for our local paper. I can't wait to ship it off to my parents on July 30th when it comes out. And my father thought killing wasn't lucrative...

Poor Deep Dark Mire...

My fourth book in the series is taking a beating.
Why?
The threesome.
Because I dared to step outside the box and give Elizabeth two men in her life, it's getting the crap kicked out of it. I get when people don't like threesomes, but it's fiction people. Take it with a grain of salt.
I don't personally see the issue. It's not cheap tawdry sex where I make the relationship crass or vile. It's about love between three people.
I also warned everyone. So, did they think I was kidding that there was going to be a threesome in book 4?

It's all so mind boggling, and I know I shouldn't let it bother me, but it does. I hate to see people say they can't read further, because I ruined the relationship.
NO. I've changed it. The relationship is still there between Ethan and Elizabeth, it's just stronger and shows that we can love more than one person in life.
When you read J.R.R Tolkien and he killed off characters in the book, did you stop reading? Or did you continue on and see what he had planned?
Fiction is just that. MADE UP works of literature meant to entertain you and make you live a fantasy you normally might not experience.

I don't plan on making excuses for my books. If you want a twosome, Emma and Greyson fit the bill, and so will Tori and Julian. If you want something outside the realm of same old romance, Elizabeth, Ethan and Callen are your heroes and heroines.

Maybe we should think back to what our mother's told us growing up. You should keep an open mind before being too judgmental.

For all you that love my novels, thank you for being supportive and trusting me to tell you a story that you'll enjoy. For those of you that freak out and quit...

You have no idea the fun you're missing.

Much love, Murder and Mayhem.

Morgan

Happy 4th of July!

Happy Independence day

Good morning all!

I hope you all have fun plans for the holiday!  I will be spending it eating copious amounts of food!  Hello cow and pig!

As for work, Devil Hath Come (book 7) is complete! YAY! It's not due to head into editing and proofing until the end of August. I hope you all enjoy it. Again, I answer the big question of 'DOES SHE KILL ETHAN OR CALLEN'.
Let's just say I did have some teary moments.
(I know, I'm very mean...)

Vegas is Dying (book 2) is still in editing process, and is slotted for a July 31st release, but it may be held up a week. I hope you all enjoy it when it comes out. I happen to love Emma and Greyson a great deal. He's my caveman and a throw back to an era long gone, where men were men and liked to be bossy. I hope Emma can handle him... *wink wink*
(for those of you freaked out about the threesome in the FBI/Series, I can promise you there won't one in that series. So, fear not! Greyson would never share Emma. He'd lose his mind.)

Sacred Burial Grounds is going in for a re-edit and second edition makeover. Some reviews have said there's issues, so I'm sending it back to be reworked.

I'm officially done writing for this year. When I get back from my hiatus in September, I'll be working on all the books for 2014.

I hope you all have a really great holiday! Eat lots of food and have fun!

Thank you all for a great summer of reviews and sales!

Much Love, Mayhem and Murder,

Morgan.

In the home stretch...

Morning all!

I've been silent this week because I've been working. I'm 100 pages from completing Devil Hath Come (book 7) in the FBI/Romance series. It's been fun. I love it so far. In this book, I'm going to be addressing the issue that has been circulating about me killing off Ethan or Callen. If it's going to happen, this is the story.
I'm not going to tell you more than that. Sorry :)

I'm also working on the edits for Vegas is Dying (book 2) in the Croft & Croft series. Tammy had a few things she didn't like, so I need to go in and tweak them a bit. Unfortunately, I can't start them until I wrap the book I'm currently working on. I don't like to mix storylines. It gets confusing.

I've received a few emails asking if I deleted my FB acct. Yes, I did. I was getting creeped out (and trust me when I say that takes a great deal) I'm not big on technology anyway. I'm a firm believer that things like FB and Twitter interfere with my creative process and add distraction. I don't like to feel unfocused.

Anyway, Devil Hath Come  will be finished by Tuesday at the latest- just in time for the Forth of July. It's my last book of the year I'm obligated to write, so now I'll get ready for hiatus and plotting out next years work.

Looking forward to my month in Myrtle Beach at the end of August. If anyone has any suggestions for fun things to do, send me an email or post me a comment. I love hearing from you.

Thank you all for making June a successful month! I'm still on Amazon's top 100 author list. The view is awesome!
I owe it all to you and Elizabeth!

Much Love, Mayhem and Murder,

Morgan.

Just another day with the Blackhawks...

Morning everyone!

It's not even three am here and I'm up and getting ready to work.
Coffee ... check
Brain...  ehhhh check.
plot... check.

I'm 1/4 of the way through Devil Hath Come (book 7) in the FBI/Romance series. It's my last book to write for this year. I really hope you all love it.
Elizabeth is going to be tested in this book. It's going to be about the loves of her life (Yes, Its a hot button with me. See previous blog) Can she live and function if half of her heart is taken away.

Am I killing someone?
Not telling you.
Will you be mad at the end?
At this point, who knows. I never believed sex would piss off people to the point that they wanted to storm my castle with fire and pitchforks!
I know where I'm heading with the book and by next week it'll be done. (Tammy will either love it or tell me its a crock of shit and redo it... )

On a different note, Vegas Is Dying (book 2) is on it's way to first edit/proof.
I'll be getting it back this weekend. That means that i'll clean it up and send it back for its final read through. It will be out sometime in July.

No proofing is perfect.
Since books are edited by people, things get missed. I know my books will sometimes have an error. I hope it doesn't detract from the book, but there are editing fiends out there that look for a missing period, or question mark.

I apologize and if anyone finds anything horrible, please email me. I'll make sure it gets handled.

Back to work.

Much love, Mayhem and Murder,

Morgan.

I've toiled about this...

As a writer, you never know what kind of feedback you're going to get. Sometimes it's good, sometimes its demoralizing and crushing. To be an author, you need to build that thick skin, know when to stand your ground and know when to cave.

Rarely do I cave. You can ask Tammy. I'm stubborn. Difficult. and I like to believe I know what the hell I'm doing with my characters, but sometimes she talks me into or out of things to save my hide.

Lately book sales have skyrocketed. (My publisher is thrilled and the Blackhawks will continue on!!!!) I appreciate each and every one of you. Even those that slam me for my books. I decided to write this blog today, not to show you the bad review, but to explain my position of WHY I made the Blackhawk/Whitefox threesome.

I'm going to post it here, not to humiliate or ridicule the person that left it, (because it's actually a really good review. Not everyone's opinion is going to match mine, and I appreciate it.)

Here's one of my 1 star reviews.

(I've removed the name.)

This review is from: Fire Burns Hot ((An FBI/ Romance Thriller~ (Book 5))) (Kindle Edition)
I had written a 5 star review for Sacred Burial Ground. ( I have deleted it.) I had never written a review before and I loved Ethan and Elizabeth so much that I replaced Eve and Roarke from the J.D. Robb series as my favorite couple. I bought all of the books in the series but have retuned the last ones because once I read that Elizabeth slept with Callan it ruined the entire series for me. No one finds their one true love only to say hey, after less than a year his brother is also my true love. You get your readers invested in this love story that is spectacular and then you destroy it by throwing in the brother. Plus Ethan was so devastated by his brother sleeping with the girl when they were young, do you really feel that his brother sleeping with his wife, THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE, would be ok. I loved your writing. You are witty, intelligent and sexual chemistry between your characters was awesome. I think it is too bad these books went in this direction. I know books are going in this direction a lot. I wanted you to know that this series was awesome without the added threesome, I would have bought every book you wrote, because you are an exceptional writer. I miss Ethan and Elizabeth already

Here's my response, and the reason for the entire blog entry today. I think that those of you out there that are on the fence about the threesome aspect of the books, needed to read this. Needed to see deep into me to see the reason behind them.

(Name Removed),
I'm sorry you went from loving the series to hating it. I'm also sorry that you felt the need to delete your excellent review for Sacred Burial Grounds to prove a point. I really did enjoy and appreciate it. As a writer, I have to let the story lead me, and from the inception of Callen back into Ethan's life, they felt like they both belonged to Elizabeth. Who is to say that in life you can only have one true love? Not I. I've had more than one 'true' love in my life, depending on the phase and place I was emotionally. The same is true with Elizabeth- only hers had converged at one time.
I let this story lead the way, with the hope to show people that deep in Elizabeth Is a love for both men, and how she'll balance it, live with the consequences and the dilemma. When I first wrote the book where Elizabeth, Ethan and Callen became a couple, I knew right away there'd be blowback. There is controversy in everything in life, and it makes for a good story. I wanted to take you... the readers on a journey. I didn't do it for the sex, or the eroticism. I did it to show you that a woman that had a deep propensity to love could break the rules and follow her heart. If she took a risk, there'd be rewards.
That's what Elizabeth did. In the end, it wasn't a cheap, tawdry fling. They all found what they were missing.
Ethan found the love of his life, but also found a family that was his forever as he learned acceptance of himself.
Elizabeth found people that offered her sanctuary an loved her for her brashness, hardness and sometimes crass behavior.
Callen found peace and safety, in a life that from conception was nothing more than one mistake after another.
Each was broken, hurt and damaged, and because of stepping outside that box, trusting the people they loved most, they became complete.
I didn't go there because its cool or everyone's doing it. I did this threesome as a couple to show love can flourish were it's expected to fail.
I'm sorry if it offended your personal likes and dislikes, but as the author, I let the book lead.
Elizabeth was strong enough to love both men and heal them and in return, they were her entrance into happily ever after.
If you love my writing, and my books except for the threesome aspect, I ask that you look past the simple fact that they're three people and see the beauty behind the relationship. The writing is the same. The wit and chemistry is still there. Nothing changed but me making you think outside the box. I did get my readers invested in a love story, and many have said they loved it. The love story never changed. It's still there and going strong. It's just not the same old love story told time and time again.
As a writer, that's my job.
I'm also to push your emotional response. Make you laugh, make you cry and help you visit a world you may not tread normally. It's a window into the unknown, and i'm very sorry you decided to stop peering in as the journey continues. ESPECIALLY since you enjoyed everything else. Their relationship is just one aspect in the story. There's Julian and Tori. There's Cyra and Chris, there are so many more characters that you would have met along the way had you stuck around for the adventure.
The series is still awesome, and I really think so are you. I love everyone that sits down and reads my books. I email an talk to many readers daily. I'm not here to bang out the books and make money. I'm here to entertain, tell a story and make you think. CAN YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE LOVE IN YOUR LIFE?
You don't believe so.
I do.
I appreciate your emotional response to the story, but I'm not sorry for pushing the limit, your buttons, or your comfort level when it came to the books.
My other series isn't going that route, because I'm pushing a different emotional response.
I again apologize that it upset you this much, and I understand that you were expecting more of the cookie cutter Eve and Roarke.

I'm not cookie cutter. I make no apologies for believing that you can love more than one person in life, and I still find the beauty, the love and the joy in writing about Lyzee, Ethan and Callen.

If you'd like to contact me, I would still love to hear from you.

Morgan.

These books are so much more than just sex. They're about three people's lives, their love and a family. I stand by my belief that a person can love more than one person at one time. I live it from personal experience myself.

Can everyone?
No. But there are individuals out there that have the propensity to open their hearts, love totally and completely and not be confined by the norms of our society.

Also, this is fiction people. LIGHTEN UP.
It's meant to entertain you.
Make you think.
Step out into a world you never would go yourself.
You don't read about aliens and get mad that someone wrote a book where they attacked our country and ate children.
It's fantasy.

I'm asking as an author you let me take you on a journey and you enjoy the trip, not get pissed because I didn't take you the route you usually go. I get the anger. I do, but really... direct it at something that deserves it.

As always,
Much Love, Mayhem (sometimes more than usual) and Murder.

Morgan.
